SCREEBE FISHERY

The Screebe Fishery extends to over 21 sq. miles, neatly divided by the waterfall close to the hatchery. The lower lakes, Derryvoniff, Glencoh and Screebe Lake and also the Road Pool fish whatever the conditions as fish can ascend without hindrance as far as the Salmon Pool. A spate is required to bring fish up the waterfall, and that is one of the most exciting things to see, fish on every ledge, small ones, big ones leaping and battling their way to the spawning grounds.

The Road Pool is the first beat to meet fish and is an exciting and rewarding stand; it fishes on the out going tide and for a short while on the turn. Derryvoniff and Glencoh Butts also have yielded their numbers to many happy fishers

Screebe Lake is our premier salmon lake, we have two boats here for two rods per boat which ensures plenty of space for peaceful and rewarding fishing. At the head of Screebe Lake is the Salmon Pool, which yields more fish per rod than any other beat.

Up river of the Salmon Pool the river beat and Wings Pool are a delight to fish and when water conditions are right offer great sport. Fishing above the waterfall is not allowed at the moment in the interests of conservation, to allow our wild population of salmon and sea trout regenerate. All salmon beats are easily accessible. Some wonderful brown trout fishing is available; it requires a walk but is well worth the effort as much for the scenery as for the fishing.
